Review of the second half of September, until now! (From September, 18^th to October, 2^nd)

On September 20^th, Friday, students from 6^th year A and B finally finished the postcards with photos and drawings of the cities of Santa Catarina. The model of the message was pattern, and students would have to complete it with the name of the city, tourist attraction, and author.

On September 23^th, some helpers of the project " Assistant of the teacher" , were in the morning, at school, to help finish the ‘Action among Friends’ and laminate the cards. Since American colleagues put a good effort, we also want to do the same! It is better, therefore it retains the card and prevents dirt, tearing, folding, and  crumpling. The 6^th grade A, during class, finished the missing details and analyzed the Americans cards. On the other hand, the 6^th year B , of afternoon, didn’t have class because there were the delivery of school bulletins to the parents, in the last class. On this day, I also gave to all of my 16 classes, of the two schools  our Action among Friends, in order to raise funds for the production of our documentary .

On September 24^th, I decided to make my gift for Teacher Rebekah and American students. I made a montage with several thumbnail images of the cities of Santa Catarina. I extract all of the Community "I Love Santa Catarina", of Facebook. The ' giant postal' measures approximately 2 meters and 78 centimeters. Since the teacher has come to Brazil, has our flag in her room, and has much affection for us Brazilians, I decided to pay my homage to her! I hope she likes it!

The September 25^th, was very special! Finally, after months, I could rediscover my colleagues, teachers of English Language of the Municipal. We had our meeting with the Educational Supervisor Adriana. It was a very special moment and productive! There was much exchange of experiences, suggestions of activities, raffle of gifts, etc. Everything to enrich increasingly our classes! The best of all is that the first stage of the project was completed: I gave all 52 cards of the 6^th year A and B. Unfortunately, not all students have commitment and dedication, of a total of 66 student participants, 14 didn’t do, nor delivered.

On September 27^th, Friday, I elaborated the activity "Verbs describe the routine of the students", with the words in English, and the translation of all verbs mentioned by the students, that describe their routines. Together, we made the phonetic equivalence of each expression. For those who do not remember, phonetic equivalence are graphic symbols that represent the sounds of human speech, or, simply, the  writing of "how to read" English words. It is a kind of ' hint' to ‘hit the jackpot’, at the time of pronunciation! On this day, I also gave for the students the schedule of the project, with the dates of the next steps!

On September 30^th, the students started to put all the knowledge into practice: Time for the artistic production. I decided to change my strategy and, instead of showing only a few students showing their routine, everybody will appear in the documentary! I thought of music, interaction and creativity, and resulted in the idea of ​​a Talent Night! That's right, we will do a Talents Show, on the day that we will present the video to the entire school community, parents, students and supporters. I will also invite the media to check closely the outcome of the project. I still want to bring a lecture about Professions and University entrance exam, to help students plan for the future. Let's see if it will work! Moreover, if we can, I want to compile all the songs and do an activity about planning for the future, to put in the Yearbook and give to the students in the format of a small book. These activities will take place if we have enough time. If we do not, they will appear only in the Yearbook. Would be wonderful if we could get a supporter to do graphic production, art and creation of the Yearbook, and who knows, we record CDs with all the songs that will be presented. These are all possible plans and dreams! I hope we can achieve them! If you know of people who can help, please indicate!

Next week, I update the blog with the collections of money and gifts, and photos of the students who sold the largest  quantity of the Action among Friends! We will begin recording our routine next week!

PORTUGUESE VERSION

Balanço da segunda quinzena de Setembro, até agora! (De 18 de Setembro a 2 de Outubro)

No dia 20 de Setembro, sexta-feira, os alunos dos 6ºs anos A e B, finalmente, terminaram os cartões postais com fotos e desenhos das cidades de Santa Catarina. O modelo da mensagem era padrão, e os alunos teriam que completá-lo com o nome da cidade, da atração turística, e do autor.

No dia 23, alguns ajudantes do projeto "Assistent of the teacher", foram de manhã, na escola, ajudar a finalizar as Ações entre Amigos e a plastificar os cartões postais. Já que os colegas americanos capricharam, também gostaríamos de fazer o mesmo! É melhor, pois conserva o cartão e evita sujeiras, rasgos, dobras e amarrotamento. O 6º ano A, durante a aula, finalizou detalhes que faltavam e analisou os cartões americanos. Por outro lado, o 6º ano B, da tarde, não teve aula, pois houve a entrega de boletins aos pais, na última aula. Neste dia, também entreguei para todas as minhas 16 turmas, das duas escolas, nossa Ação entre Amigos, com o objetivo de arrecadar fundos para produção do nosso documentário.

No dia 24 de Setembro, resolvi fazer meu presente para a Teacher Rebekah e os alunos americanos. Fiz uma montagem com várias miniaturas de imagens das cidades de Santa Catarina. Extraí todas da Comunidade "Eu amo Santa Catarina" do Facebook. O 'postal gigante' mede aproximadamente 2 metros e 78 centímetros. Já que a professora já veio ao Brasil, tem uma bandeira nossa na sala dela, e tem muito carinho por nós brasileiros, resolvi prestar minha singela homenagem à ela! Espero que ela goste!

O dia 25 de Setembro foi muito especial! Finalmente, após meses, pude reencontrar meus colegas de trabalho, professores de Língua Inglesa da Rede Municipal. Tivemos nossa Reunião Pedagógica com a Supervisora Adriana. Foi um momento muito especial e produtivo! Houve muita troca de experiências, sugestões de atividades, sorteio de brindes, etc. Tudo para enriquecer cada vez mais nossas aulas! O melhor de tudo é que a primeira etapa do projeto foi concluída: Entreguei todos os 52 postais dos 6ºs anos A e B. Infelizmente, nem todos os alunos tiveram empenho e dedicação, pois de um total de 66 alunos participantes, 14 não fizeram, nem entregaram.

No dia 27, sexta-feira, elaborei a atividade " Verbos que descrevem a rotina dos estudantes", com a expressão em inglês, e a tradução, de todos os verbos citados pelos alunos, que descrevem suas rotinas. Juntos, fizemos a equivalência fonética de cada expressão. Para quem não lembra, a equivalência fonética são símbolos gráficos que representam os sons da fala humana, ou, simplesmente, a escrita de "como se lê" as palavras em inglês. É uma espécie de 'dica' para ‘acertar na mosca’, na hora da pronúncia! Neste dia, também entreguei para os alunos o cronograma do projeto, com as datas das próximas etapas!

No dia 30 de Setembro, os alunos começaram a colocar todo o conhecimento em prática: Hora da produção artística. Resolvi mudar minha estratégia e, ao invés de mostrar apenas alguns alunos mostrando sua rotina, todos irão aparecer no documentário! Pensei em música, interação e criatividade, e resultou na ideia de uma Noite de Talentos! Isso mesmo, faremos um Talents Show, no dia em que apresentaremos o vídeo para toda a comunidade escolar, pais, alunos e apoiadores. Irei convidar a imprensa também para conferir de perto o resultado do projeto. Ainda pretendo trazer uma palestra sobre Profissões e Vestibular, para ajudar os alunos a planejarem o futuro. Vamos ver se vai dar certo! Além disso, se conseguirmos,  quero compilar todas as músicas e fazer uma atividade sobre planejamento de futuro, para colocarmos no Yearbook e darmos para os alunos em forma de um pequeno livro. Estas atividades acontecerão se tivermos tempo suficiente. Se não tivermos, irão aparecer apenas no Yearbook. Maravilhoso seria se conseguíssemos um apoiador que fizesse a produção gráfica, arte e criação do Yearbook, e quem sabe, gravássemos CDs com todas as músicas que serão apresentadas. Tudo isso são planos e sonhos possíveis! Espero que consigamos concretizá-los! Se souberem de pessoas que possam ajudar, favor indicarem!

Semana que vem, eu atualizo the blog com as arrecadações de dinheiro e brindes, e as fotos dos alunos que venderam a maior quantidade de Ações entre Amigos! Começaremos a gravar nossa rotina semana que vem!
